Codam Coding College — Piscine Day 3

I divided my time between wrapping up the Shell00 exercises and watching the videos for the C00 exercises. We were told that the exam would be all about “C”, so everyone pretty much skipped over Shell01 and went straight for the C00 exercises.

I noticed a lot of people don’t watch the YouTube videos explaining different subject matter in detail. They just go right for the exercises. The videos are in French since Codam is based on the original Ecole 42 in Paris. I just mute the audio and read the English subtitles. Some people watch the English dubbed versions located in another space on the platform, but those are shorter videos and don’t dive a much into the content as I would like, so I’m sticking with the French videos.

I only got through 5 of the 25 videos, because I was a bit stressed over evaluations for Shell00. A lot of people were already getting their exercises evaluated, meanwhile, I hadn’t even pushed mine to my repository. I focused on that, which took me a while. We’re not using GitHub, just Git, so it’s hard to see what you’re doing if you’re not familiar with it. I tried it on my own for a while before asking someone else if they could help. Eventually, I pushed all 7 of my exercises (there were 9, but I stopped at 7. I could have even stopped at 6 for enough points, but 7 seemed interesting so I went ahead and did it). Then I signed up for 2 slots to get evaluated the next day. I also opened a few slots for my own availability to evaluate other people, and 4 people ended up subscribing…..which is a lot. Hopefully I’ll learn a lot from these 4 people tomorrow since that’s the whole point of Codam in the first place!
